2 Interpretation

In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires, -
Coat of arms or arms means any object or figure, being a symbolic representation displayed in colours on a shield in conformity with the principles and rules of heraldry, with or without any crown, helmet, mantling, supporters, motto, or other

emblem means any device, seal, mark, badge, symbol, design, logotype, or other distinctive sign of identification; and includes any representation thereof, whether on any flag, banner, sign or other printed or written material, or by way of any pictorial representation or other visual image, or otherwise.

Ship Registration Act 1992

16 Power to disallow proposed name and to allow change of name
(1) The Registrar may disallow any name registered or proposed to be registered in respect of a ship if that name -
(a) is the name of a ship registered in that Part of the Register to which the application for registration relates; or
(b) is a name accepted by the Registrar in respect of any other ship in the course of registration in that Part of the Register; or
(c) is likely to be confused with a name described in paragraph (a) or paragraph (b); or
(d) is likely to be offensive to members of the public; or
(e) is the name of any member of the Royal family, or claims or implies patronage of or any connection with Her Majesty or any other member of the Royal flamily; or
(f) is the name ""New Zealand"" without a prefix or suffix (unless the name is proposed to be used by the Crown); or
(g) falsely suggests connection with -

COUNTRY

By country is meant the state of which one is a member.

2. Every man's country is in general the state in which he happens to have been born, though there are some exceptions. See Domicil; Inhabitant. But a man has the natural right to expatriate himself, i.e. to abandon his country, or his right of citizenship acquired by means of naturalization in any country in which he may have taken up his residence. See Allegiance; Citizen; Expatriation. in another sense, country is the same as pais. (q. v.)

applicant, in relation to an application for a New Zealand travel document, means the person who will be the holder of the document if the application is granted.
certificate of identity means a document (other than a passport or an emergency travel document or a refugee travel document) issued by the Government of any country to any person for the purposes of facilitating his or her entry into.
